The town of Oxford and its surrounding areas including Talbot County,
are some of the most historic and picturesque in the nation. Oxford
is one of the oldest towns in the state (1683) and gained prominence
in colonial days because it was the only port of entry on the Eastern
Shore.
Talbot County is located on Maryland's Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake
Bay, and has over 600 miles of shoreline, and its own rich history.
Highlights include the Talbot County Historical Society and Gardens,
the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, the Robert Morris Inn, the historic
Tred Avon Ferry, Avalon Theatre, and the Wye Oak, to name but a
few.
